Police have been criticised over a video showing a schoolgirl being dragged along the ground like a ‘piece of meat’ by an officer.Footage emerged this week of Katelynn Murphy King being tackled to the ground as she was arrested in Wapping on suspicion of affray and breaching the peace.The 13-year-old, who was later de-arrested, said she suffered severe bruises in the incident and her grandmother Joan Whittaker, 51, said the actions of the officer were ‘not justified’.It follows the release of a video, also shot in Tower Hamlets, showing a youth worker being physically restrained as he was arrested.Visit the link to watch video.

MTN Denise alleged transfer of $14billion out of Nigeria

MTN, CEO,Mr. Ferdinand MoolmanSouth Africa’s MTN has denied it illegally transferred $13.9 billion from Nigeria in the latest scandal to hit the telecom firm in its largest market in the continent.The Johannesburg-based firm is facing a parliamentary probe over accusations it connived with senior Nigerian officials to move the funds out of the country without complying with the law.“We would like to reiterate that at no point did MTN Nigeria (MTNN) illegally repatriate funds out of Nigeria or collaborate with Nigerians to loot the external reserves of the country,” Ferdinand Moolman, the chief executive officer of MTNN told the Senate hearing in Abuja on Thursday.“MTNN is a Nigerian company and is proud to be conducting business in Nigeria. It therefore categorically refutes any accusations of money laundering, economic sabotage or tax evasion levied against it,” he added.Moolman said all monies repatriated by the company were in respect of dividend payments and capital divestment originating from legitimate foreign direct investment.“The dividend payments were made to shareholders who imported foreign capital for investment in MTNN,” he said.Moolman also exonerated Nigeria’s Trade and Investment Minister Okechukwu Elenemah from the alleged capital flight.“We would like to state that Dr Elenemah has never been a director or shareholder of MTNN,” he said, adding that the minister had not connived with the company to move funds out of Nigeria.The parliamentary probe followed a motion last month by Dino Melaye, a senator from central Kogi state which called for MTN to be investigated over the alleged illegal transfers.Four local banks were alleged to have been used to move the funds with the help of the trade minister.The probe is the latest setback to hit MTN in Nigeria.The firm was last year slammed with a $3.9 billion fine for failing to cut off 5.1 million unregistered SIM cards, amid fears that some of the affected lines were being used by Boko Haram insurgents.The conflict sparked by the jihadist group has left at least 20,000 dead and forced more than 2.6 million people from their homes since 2009.In June, MTN announced that following negotiations with the Nigerian authorities, it had agreed to pay $1.7 billion as a final settlement.MTN is the largest mobile phone firm in Nigeria, and the country accounts for a third of the group’s total revenue.MTN threatened to pull out during the SIM card row, before the fine was reduced by nearly 70 percent.Relations between Nigeria and South Africa, the continent’s two economic powerhouses, have been strained over recent years on issues including economic rivalry and political friction.South Africa’s growth has been undermined by the slowdown in China and falling commodity prices, while Nigeria, the continent’s top oil producer, has suffered from low oil prices, leading it into recession.

18 year old Indian Teenager Pulls Two Cars With His Shoulder Blades

 18 year old Abhishek Choubey from Sagar, Madhya Pradesh in India showed how much superhuman strength he possessed as he used his scapula (shoulder blades) to pull two cars, hoping to break a world record.According to Abhishek, he has been pulling weights with his shoulder blades since he was 8 and hopes he's recognized for his talents.Abhishek always attaches a tow-rope to a triangular piece of wood made by his dad, Avdesh Kumar Choubey, who designed it especially to fit between his shoulder blades.He explained:    “I started pulling chairs and tables with my shoulder blades when I was eight. I realised there are many people who can pull heavy vehicles with ears and even hair, but I am the only one who can pull two cars at a time with my shoulder blades. I used to get hooks from the market but they didn’t fit between my shoulder blades. My dad was happy with my stunts and designed a special hook for me as a gift.”     “Not everyone can do this," Abhishek said. "My friend had to see a doctor after he attempted to pull a small chair. It needs a proper exercise. I exercise everyday for at least an hour.”His Proud dad Avdesh is happy to see his son getting famous. He explained:    “I wish he gets into the Guinness Book of World Records. I am proud of him. I want him to continue his stunts and we also make sure he continues his studies. If he wishes to pull an airplane, we’d always support him. We know it’s not dangerous. 10-year-old Beaten To Death By Father Over Allegation of Stealing

Men of the Ogun State Police Command have arrested 37-year-old Razak Adekoya for beating his 10 year-old son to death. Spokesman of the command, Abimbola Oyeyemi, who confirmed the incident said that the deceased, Waris, was subjected to beating by his father over allegation of stealing.Preliminary investigation revealed several marks on the body of the boy as a result of series of torture he suffered. Oyeyemi said the suspect was arrested by policemen attached to Ago-Iwoye Division, following a tip off from members of the community.The remains of the boy have been deposited at St. Joseph Catholic Hospital Mortuary, Oke-Agbo, Ijebu-Igbo for autopsy.According to The Nigerian Tribune, the state Commissioner of Police Ahmed Iliyasu ordered that the suspect be transferred to Homicide Section of Criminal Investigation and Intelligent Department, Eleweran Abeokuta for further investigation.

Governor Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti State was in his elements again on Monday, October 18, 2016, when he stormed an Access Bank branch with thugs and security detail.He also threatened to shut down the bank.It all began when the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) instructed the bank to detain Precious Fani-Kayode, wife of former Nigerian Minister, Femi Fani Kayode .Ms. Fani-Kayode was in Ekiti as guest of Fayose and had gone to the bank around 3pm to carry out a transaction.Matters got to a head when Fayose got wind of the development and stormed the bank in a fit of rage to secure Ms. Fani-Kayode’s release.Ms. Fani-Kayode was carrying an eight-month old baby with her at the time of her ‘arrest’.She told Punch that she had been dehumanised by officials of the bank and the anti-graft agency.“I’m not a politician and that bank account had been dormant for about five years. I only activated it last month in Port Harcourt.“I decided to go to Access Bank to make some withdrawals when I was detained on the instructions of the EFCC.“They told me the account had been frozen and they were asked by the EFCC to arrest me on the spot.“I have been operating the account since 2005 when I was a student in the university. They had earlier frozen my two bank accounts which they have not opened till today and I have been waiting for them to invite me, but up till today, they have not.“The balance in the account is just N200,000; so, I don’t know what their interest is. I’m a private person. I have not received any political fund; so, why are they trying to starve my family?“That account has nothing to do with politics. This is dehumanising. I had to call the Governor to inform him of the development.”As you’d expect, Governor Fayose was less than amused. He warned the EFCC against persecuting any of his friends in the future.

Leicester Fan Stabs Chelsea Fans Over A Football Match

 28-year-old man allegedly stabbed his friend over football match at a viewing centre in Hausawa area of Madalla, Niger State. An witness said the incident happened on Saturday, October 15th, during Premier League football match between Chelsea and Leicester City Football Club, which ended 3:0 in favour of the former.An argument is said to have ensued between the accused identified as Nasiru Yahaya, a fan of Leicester City and the victim, Aliyu Saidu, who supported Chelsea Football Club. The two friends had betted N500 on the match, but when Chelsea eventually won the match, the accused refused to give the victim N500.He said the argument resulted into a fight  and the accused allegedly ran to a nearby shop, carried a bottle, broke it and stabbed his friend on his hands and back. He fled the scene but was later arrested by vigilantes and handed over to the police.The injured victim was taken to clinic in the area where he is currently receiving treatment.A member of a vigilante, who confirmed the incident, said that the family of the accused later went to the police station along with the family of the victim to resolve the matter after the accused had accepted to foot the medical  bill of the injured man.

Africa’s richest man, Aliko Dangote has completed the acquisition of Twister B.V., a gas processing company headquartered in the Netherlands.A statement by his company, Dangote Industries Limited (DIL) announcing the new acquisition, says the new company would help design and build the gas plants which would be critical in processinggas from oil fields for transportation via Dangote’s planned sub-sea pipeline (EWOGGS) for ultimate consumption by various industries and power plants.The statement quotes Dangote as saying “This was an important acquisition for us. Twister’s cutting edge gas processing technology is fundamental to delivering our strategy to unlock about 3bcfd of gas in order to meet Nigeria’s gas needs.” Chief Executive Officer of Twister, John Young who also spoke on the new deal said, “We are delighted in the confidence DIL and First E&P have shown in Twister to be their core provider of gas separation solutions.After a very thorough due diligence our technology has been recognised as a key enabler to reduce gas project costs which is crucial in this current environment. We are excited to be part of the Dangote family of companies.” Dangote is currently building a refinery and fertilizer project that is expected to be in operation in the first quarter of 2019. The projects is expected to cost a minimum of $ 17 billion.

KADUNA—No fewer than 20 armed men, suspected to be herdsmen, Sunday night, invaded Galwyi community, in Chikun Local Government Area of Kaduna State, killing two persons and injuring two others.They also carted away about 100 cattle, a community source told Vanguard, yesterday.The state police spokesman, Aliyu Usman, who confirmed the incident, said only one person was injured.Galwyi, about 10 kilometres South-West of Kaduna, is part of a cluster of villages populated by indigenous Gyabgyi of Kaduna, who are predominantly farmers and small scale animal husbandry.According to the source, the gunmen stormed the village from three directions.“They left with no less than 100 cows. Policemen from Gwagwada outpost arrived and chased the invaders into the night, but had to retreat later.”
